Tongan Alliance of America
To our valued sponsors we thank you sincerely. Your donations and volunteer efforts truly make a difference in the lives of many.
In 2010 on May 7th we had a "Mother's Day Dance", "School's Out Youth Dance", July 23 and "Evening With The Graduates" August 20, when we were privileged to honor high school graduates and promote higher education. We were especially excited to give away a $1,000.00 scholarship donated by 3 Arts Entertainment. August 26, 2011 we had the first of our two events for the year, "Evening With The Graduates" to honor the class of 2011, promote higher education and award them scholarships sponsored by Alliance Direct Lending and Samoan Congregational Christian Church of South Los Angeles United Church of Christ, at Friends of Banning's Landing in Wilmington, CA and "Siale Festival" the following day, August 27, 2011 also at Friends of Banning's Landing to educate and share the Tongan and other Pacific Island cultures through song, dance, food and arts/crafts with our local communities. Out of all Pacific Islanders in California, particularly Tongans have the lowest high school graduation percentage. So March 26, 2012, we held a High School Prep Workshop at the Pacific Islander Ethnic Arts Museum in Long Beach, CA, which was to ensure our Pacific Islander students are on the right path to high school graduation and that they are getting the right kind of support from home. July 20, 2012 we'll be having our 3rd annual "Evening With The Graduates" to honor the class of 2012 at the Torrance Civic Center. August 18, 2012 will be 2nd annual "Siale Festival" back at Friends of Banning's Landing in Wilmington, CA. Finally, in September 2012, we'll be having a College Prep Workshop to get our kids tips and information straight from college counselors to help them with furthering their education.
All this would not be possible without your donations and volunteer efforts and WE THANK YOU FOR THIS.
